Deleted photos get reimported, due to actice automatic import from folder

Observed behavior

I have set up an automatic Import Folder. In this case it’s the folder the Telegram messenger saves its received media files. …\Downloads\Telegram Desktop
The option “Keep copies in source location” is selected.
Aspects then automatically imports these Photos. Whenever I delete some of these photos, within Aspect , they reappear with the next Start of Aspect again.

Expected behavior

I would expect Aspect to keep track of what photos I already deleted, and not reimports them again and again.

Operating system/Hardware used

Windows 11
Aspect 1.0.0-rc.45

This one is a bit tricky, because just remembering which files have been deleted in the past may easily lead to surprising behavior, too (“why doesn’t this photo get imported when I put it in the import folder?”). Trying to be more clever here sounds like something that can quickly become very complicated, while still being rather error prone.

However, there are two alternatives that might be workable here:

  1. Instead of using the “delete permanently” deletion mode, use “move to library trash”. While this will keep a copy in the.trash folder of the library, it will be gone from the main folder structure and it will not be re-imported as long as is stays in the trash can.

  2. Make the source folder a scanned folder instead of importing from it. This means that deleting the file will delete it directly in the source folder, which may or may not be more desirable in this case. I’m not sure how Telegram exactly handles its download folder, but I guess it would simply download such a file again whenever the attachment gets displayed/saved within the app.

Having said that, this is definitely an issue that would be nice to have a good solution for. It is particularly relevant when using the Android app for importing photos from a mobile phone.
