Aspect unexpectedly quitting

Observed behavior

When opening Aspect, the application immediately (~1 second) quits. “Aspect” is visible in the top menu bar, the Aspect window flashes then disappears and the application quits.

Expected behavior

Steps required to reproduce

  1. Download Aspect from https://aspect.bildhuus.com/
  2. Drag from Downloads to Applications folder
  3. Double-click to open

Operating system/Hardware used

macOS Sequoia 15.6.1 / 2020 MacBook Pro

This sounds like this might be the same issue as Crash on startup - macos 15.6.1. Is this an Intel MacBook Pro, or one of the first 13 inch M1 devices?

Any updates? I tried downloading Aspect and opening again, with the same result.

We are currently taking a little time off, so I didn’t manage to track this down to its root cause, yet. But I expect to have a release with a fix out either on Monday, or on the following Friday (see also Crash on startup - macos 15.6.1 - #4 by Soenke).

1.0.0-rc.31 is out now and includes a fix - this was indeed another low-level breaking change in macOS 15.4.
