Right panel scrolls when selecting or dragging items

Observed/expected behavior

If the right panel is scrolled down, when clicking or dragging an item in the panel, the panel scrolls so the item is at the bottom of the panel. This is annoying if you are trying to drag the item into a collection that is now scrolled off screen.

The panel should not scroll itself unless the selected item is not visible.

Steps required to reproduce

  1. Create enough collections so that they don’t all fit in the panel at once and it can be scrolled a good amount.
  2. Scroll the panel down to the bottom.
  3. Click an item in the panel near the bottom.

Thanks for fixing this issue.

I am now noticing some similar issues when working with the right panel.

  • Create enough collections that they don’t all fit in the panel at once.
  • Scroll the panel down to the bottom.
  • Right-click on a collection near the bottom and click Create Sub Collection.
  • BUG: The panel scrolls so that the new collection is at the bottom of the panel even if it is already visible.

The following actions will cause the panel to scroll to the very top if it is scrolled down:

  • Pressing Enter after typing a new name for a collection or saved search after creating or renaming it.
  • Deleting a collection or saved search.
  • Setting a shortcut key for a collection.
  • Expanding or collapsing a collection or the Color Label or Rating entries (but oddly not the Keywords entry).

There are probably similar behaviors with groups and taxonomies but I haven’t tested those.

I’ve fixed two issues for the next release now – the scroll position is now restored after the tree refreshes, which fixes the main issue, and I also noticed that the “selected” state of an item that gets renamed isn’t cleared when clicking another item.
