Second display and fullscreen not working as expected

Observed behavior

Second display won’t stay in fullscreen, so I need to select “fullscreen” for each single image

I have faced a couple of potential issues.

Expected behavior

I am using one screen to look at the photo stream. The second screen should show me the pictures (as large as possible). But the second screen leaves fullscreen-mode anytime I select a different picture.

  1. [expected behavior]
click “view” → “toggle secondary screen”
  2. now I have window 1 of aspect in screen 1 with photo stream and window 2of aspect in screen 2 which shows me a larger version of the picture selected in photo stream
  3. from window 2 I click “fullscreen” button
    image
  4. then window 2displays the picture in fullscreen
  5. Using the photo stream in window 1 , I select a different picture
  6. then window 2displays the newly selected picture in fullscreen

Steps required to reproduce

  1. click “view” → “toggle secondary screen”
  2. now I have window 1 of aspect in screen 1 with photo stream and window 2of aspect in screen 2 which shows me a larger version of the picture selected in photo stream
  3. from window 2 I click “fullscreen” button
  4. then window 2displays the picture in fullscreen
  5. Using the photo stream in window 1 , I select a different picture
  6. :right_arrow: then window 2 leaves fullscreen-mode, and displays the newly selected picture as in step 2.

EDIT: at step 5, clicking anywhere using window 1 (even metadata pane to rate the picture) seems to make window 2 leave fullscreen-mode

Operating system/Hardware used

Windows 11
Version 1.0.0-rc.39

Fixed for 1.0.0-rc.40 – the fullscreen view now only closes when another applications gets the focus, but stays open as long as the focus remains within the application itself. A related issue, which is now also fixed, was that the fullscreen window didn’t always open on the same monitor as the window from which it got activated.
