Usage question: import pictures

Hello,
I have some questions on how I am supposed to import pictures in one particular scenario. I"ll write an example first.

Scenario 1: (this is clear, writing it as an example.)
I want to import a folder to my library. The folder represents an event.
Step1: “File” → “Add folder to library” → select the folder.
Step2: “Library” → “Mark folder as event”

Scenario 2:
I have different folders with pictures, folders do not represent an event.
(such as “Photos from my phone” “Photos shared by friends”)
(wrong?)Step1a: “File” → “Add folder to library” → select the folders. This adds the photos to the Photo Stream.
(wrong?) Step2a: Select the photos and create the event.
Aspect creates multiple event folders:
Photos from my phone/event
Photos shared by friends/event

I want all the pictures of the event in the same folder eventFolder, so that I can copy it or point to that folder with other software if I want.
Am I doing something wrong?

Workaround that I have figured out is the following:
Step1b:“File” → “Import photos to library” and select all photos from all folders(“Photos from my phone” “Photos shared by friends”)
Step2b: once imported, create event from the photo stream → now there is one single folder with all the pictures of the event.

Am I doing it right? I wonder if there is a way to to do Step1a and Step2a to have at the end the following:
./Photos from my phone
./Photos shared by friends
./event

EDIT: formatting

Hey Stef and sorry for the late reply!

There are currently two ways to add a folder as a “stand-alone” event.

  1. You can drag a folder from Finder/Explorer/File Manager into the free space of the event list while holding down Alt (Windows/Linux) or Ctrl (macOS).
  2. When you already have an event like Photos from my phone/event, you can move the contents of the event folder into its parent folder and then delete the empty event folder. Within Aspect, the event should then be displayed as missing, indicated with an exclamation mark. Pressing that exclamation mark will allow you to browse for the new location of the event.

A third way is planned to be added, which is simply to allow selecting a scanned folder itself as an event, instead of only its sub folders (internal ticket #1325). This will probably land in the first update after the first stable release.

Hello Sönke,
Thank you for your response, it is clear now!
