Version 1.0.0-preview.10

Hey everyone,

a new version of Aspect has been released: 1.0.0-preview.10. You’ll find the download links at the bottom of this post. Simply install over the existing installation to upgrade. The following changes and additions are included:

Enhancements

  • Implemented EXIF and IPTC loading functionality for PSD/PSB files
  • When creating a collection through the collection bar, the shift key modifies the set of added files the same way as when adding/removing though a shortcut (#525)
  • The import dialog now detects read-only folders and disables the option to move files (#255)
  • Improved the RAW/JPEG pair detection accuracy
  • Improved the program behavior when the user manually locates a missing event folder
  • Various performance enhancements

Bug fixes

  • Fixed the context menu in the relation bubble operating on the wrong file(s)
  • Fixed PSD/PSB files being loaded with the wrong gamma (appearing too bright)
  • Fixed a crash in the “convert multiple folders to event” dialog when changing the check boxes
  • Fixed an issue with imported files that have extended UTF-8 characters in their name
  • Fixed a regression that caused hidden files to be imported
  • Fixed a crash that sometimes occurred when switching the library just after another library had been loaded (#532)
  • Fixed a deadlock that could occur when importing files, causing the import to hang indefinitely
  • Fixed the selection margin around images in compare mode when zoomed in
  • Fixed an issue on macOS where an event with extended UTF-8 characters was erroneously detected as cloned
  • Fixed a missing update of the statistics in event headers after files have been added or removed
  • Fixed the items of the collection bar to stay unchanged when switching view modes (all files/workspace or switching to a collection)
  • Fixed an intermittent crash in the “convert folder to event” dialog
  • Fixed an issue where the import sheet (as well as the folder to event conversion sheets) were opened multiple times at once (#533)
  • Fixed library file system organization functionality being disabled after waking up from system standby
  • Fixed a regression where the last opened library was not remembered at the next start

Feel free to leave any feedback here or in the bug reports sub forum. Thanks for helping to shape a new way of organizing photos!

Please remember: Even though the software is reasonably stable at this point, always make a backup of your data, or work with a copy of it, when using pre-release software.
