Hey everyone,
a new version of Aspect has been released: 1.0.0-preview.13. You’ll find the download links at the bottom of this post. Simply install over the existing installation to upgrade. The following changes and additions are included:
New features
- Added a menu entry for renaming the library
- Added a capture year search expression
Enhancements
- Reworked the top part of the application window
- On Windows, the title bar now contains a menu bar instead of a “hamburger menu”
- The back button has been moved to the left of the window and an additional forward button has been added
- The library name in the upper left corner has been removed
- Reworked external editor access in the user interface
- Favorite editors are now available directly within the context menu and the “image” menu
- Instead of having different sections “view”/“edit”/“merge”, each editor now opens a menu with the available actions
- Editing directly and editing as a copy are now two explicit options
- Improved the search expression parser
- The search expression suggestions can now include multiple matches for events, collections and keywords
- Improved the general quality of search expression suggestions
- Extended the possibilities to pass files to the application at startup
- Extends on the possibility to open folders and media files
- Opening *.aspectnode files will now load the corresponding library
- Opening *.lic files will attempt to activate the given license file
- All supported file types are now also registered with the operating system, so that “open with” works as expected
- Using new file names for library database files
- Library files are named “Aspect Library File.aspectnode”
- Event files are named “Aspect Event File.aspectnode”
- Individual photo folder files are named “Aspect Individual Photos File.aspectnode”
- Existing files will be renamed automatically
- Improved performance in various parts of the application
- Startup time has been improved considerably
- Directory listing performance has been vastly improved, especially in the “scanned folders” settings section
- File copy performance during imports has been vastly improved
- Fixed the wording of the rename/delete menu entries of the “library” menu to be unambiguous
- Add-on menu entries are now grouped withing a sub menu for each add-on
- When creating a new library, any open library is now unloaded before starting to scan for images
- Implemented the “show missing files” menu entry
- Images zoomed past 100% now use nearest-neighbor filtering (quadratic pixels)
Bug fixes
- Fixed the “create group” menu entry being displayed erroneously with no library being loaded
- Fixed a possible library structure corruption when quickly moving multiple files back and forth between different events/photo stream
