Version 1.0.0-preview.18

Hey everyone,

a new version of Aspect has been released: 1.0.0-preview.18. You’ll find the download links at the bottom of this post, as well as an overview of the included enhancements in the announcement blog post. Simply install over the existing installation to upgrade. The following changes and additions are included:

New features

  • Added a “move to” menu to allow moving images to other events or the photo stream without relying on drag and drop
  • Added support for pairing and browsing Aspect network devices (Aspect Sync)
  • Added the possibility to sort by import time
  • Added a new “camera” search expression to search for a specific camera make/model

Enhancements

  • Importing a folder in copy mode multiple times now avoids transferring unchanged files more than once
  • The folder browser now shows the root device (drive or device name) for better orientation
  • Improved the error message that appears in the library creation dialog when choosing a pictures folder that belongs to another library
  • In case of unavailable files of interrupted import processes, now offers the possibility to discard the rest of the import
  • Instead of disallowing dragging files from a foreign library, a confirmation dialog is shown
  • Opening a library with an old format now shows a confirmation dialog before converting the latest format
  • Available updates are now shown more prominently at the top right of the window
  • Showing a notification of available updates in case of a crash
  • The macOS crash reporter can now also send the system crash report, enabling better error diagnosis on our side

Bug fixes

  • Fixed bogus search results when using a simple text search
  • Fixed window resizing issues on macOS
  • Fixed an issue where the library creation dialog was not shown after licensing the application
  • Fixed an issue where the photo stream contents were not showing after loading a library

  • Fixed selected images being added to newly created events
  • Fixed refreshing the state of collection bar quick select buttons

  • Fixed slow appearing of certain items in the file system panel
  • Fixed bad UI responsiveness for large libraries while entering search terms

Feel free to leave any feedback here or in the bug reports sub forum. Thanks for helping to shape a new way of organizing photos!

Please remember: Even though the software is reasonably stable at this point, always make a backup of your data, or work with a copy of it, when using pre-release software.
