Version 1.0.0-preview.24

Hey everyone,

a new version of Aspect has been released: 1.0.0-preview.24 (view blog post). You’ll find the download links at the bottom of this post. Simply install over the existing installation to upgrade. The following changes and additions are included:

New features

  • Added support for defining custom metadata fields
    • Fields can be added, removed and edited at the bottom of the metadata pane
    • Fields can be marked as favorites, making them readily available for all images
    • Searching for custom fields is supported as a semantic search expression in the search bar

Enhancements

  • The “edit raw” context menu entry is now also available when selecting edited files
  • Images that have not been full imported are not analyzed anymore, speeding up imports
  • Added support for custom window frames on Linux
  • Large images are now loaded on a tile-by-tile basis, making the theoretical image size unlimited
  • Relaxed the rules for re-importing files in “copy” when the modification time changes
  • Added support for ICC color profiles in PSD files
  • The event and organization panes now never show a horizontal scroll bar
  • Removed selection related menu entries from the popup menu
  • Replaced the two separate “all files”/“workspace” buttons with a single drop-down to avoid too many tab-like controls in one place
  • Hovering over the “workspace” entry now also grays out non-image files, in addition to images hidden from the workspace
  • Clicking on the “photo stream” item in the event pane will now leave the local collection, if any is currently selected
  • Emblems on thumbnails are now scaled down for very small thumbnail sizes
  • The welcome dialog is now only shown if the trial period has expired, enabling a cleaner startup experience
  • The file relation bubble now has section headers overlayed by the scroll bar, similar to the film strip
  • Simplified the buttons of the local collection bar, indicating the shortcut more clearly as such
  • Added a “create event form paragraph” entry to the paragraph menu
  • Thumbnails are now displayed for scanned HEIF images
