a new version of Aspect has been released: 1.0.0-preview.29 (view blog post). You’ll find the download links at the bottom of this post. Simply install over the existing installation to upgrade.

Please remember: Even though the software is reasonably stable at this point, always make a backup of your data, or work with a copy of it, when using pre-release software.
New features
- DCIM, AVCHD and XAVC-S folder hierarchies are now recognized and handled appropriately during imports
- Added experimental Metal rendering support on macOS - still produces some visual artefacts at this point
- For JPEG files, there is now a new option to directly embed metadata contained in XMP sidecar files
Enhancements
- Improved UI drawing performance for many visible elements
- Added .mkv to the list of supported video extensions
- Added remote sync/availability states for thumbnails
Bug fixes
- Fixed an issue where the photo stream was empty after switching libraries
- Fixed video decoding on Linux
- Fixed color space conversion for introduction videos and some UI elements
- Fixed an issue where identical sidecar files would get erroneously removed as duplicates during import
- Fixed auto imports to keep sub folder hierarchies
- Fixed a few synchronization issues occurring when moving an event to trash and performing changes at the same time on a different device
