a new version of Aspect has been released: 1.0.0-preview.41 (view blog post). You’ll find the download links at the bottom of this post. Simply install over the existing installation to upgrade.

Please remember: Even though the software is reasonably stable at this point, always make a backup of your data, or work with a copy of it, when using pre-release software.
New features
- First release of the experimental server version of Aspect
- Added the possibility to flip through images using the mouse wheel in details/fullscreen view
- Added the possibility to search for Aspect devices using a manually specified address
- The vertical position of event header images can now be adjusted
Enhancements
- Improved performance in general and scrolling performance in particular
- Improved performance/responsiveness during import and library synchronization activities
- The folder browser now allows switching to “workspace” view in order to hide non-media files
- The state of distraction-free mode is now restored when the app is being restarted
- The loupe panel in details view can now be closed
- The user name is now displayed in addition to the device name for Aspect network devices
- Library invitations/join requests can now also be issued through the context menu of the network device list popup
- The search bar now displays year ranges for events that span multiple years
- Status reporting during imports is now more detailed
- An activity is now shown while waiting for an external editor application
- Auto imports will not be triggered when files are deleted from the import directory anymore
- .m2ts files are not recognized as video files
- iOS: Current activities will be displayed in more detail and with progress indicators where possible
- Android Sync: Storage volumes names are now displayed in human readable form
Bug fixes
- Fixed an issue certain PSD files would fail to load - note that there is still an issue with wrong color rendition for these files
- Fixed an issue where files would have a wrong checksum associated after the initial “analyzing images” run, resulting in temporary slowdowns and possible issues with duplicate detection
- Fixed an issue where the file being edited using “edit copy” could disappear from the workspace view if no changes were actually made
- Fixed the “house” icon displayed in the library list in the macOS menu bar
- Fixed a rare timing-related crash happening when viewing file information in the metadata pane
- iOS: Fixed the Photos Library import sometimes hanging
- Fixed an issue where an import could fail mid-way when the library was synchronized between multiple devices
- Fixed crashes caused by exceeding the default file descriptor limit on macOS/iOS
