Enhancements

  • Improved metadata read speed for certain JPEG files (e.g. generated by Fuji cameras), most notable when importing from SD card or from Aspect Sync
  • Added new auto-detected external editors: Capture One, Lightroom Classic, Photomator
  • “CaptureOne” folders are now getting auto-collapsed in the “Select Folders As Events” pane

Bug fixes

  • Fixed a potential issue where partial files would be imported from Aspect Sync for Android when transfer errors happened
  • Linux: Fixed the mouse cursor indicating (unusable) resize handles when maximized
  • Fixed a crash on Linux in case the icon theme detection failed
  • Fixed thumbnails of newly imported images initially appearing black
  • Fixed an issue where sometimes not all photos in a folder would be imported
  • Fixed a crash caused by attempting to move files into the trash can from within the file browser
  • Fixed a possible crash when unloading the library while the current view is still loading thumbnails
  • Fixed a crash caused by entering a four-digit year into the search bar
  • Fixed cleared default shortcuts not getting persisted across program starts

Feel free to leave any feedback here or in the bug reports sub forum. Thanks for helping to shape a new way of organizing photos!

Hi, I’m a new user here and just installed Aspect a few days ago. I have not done anything other than import my photos and I’m working purely from the library at present while I try to figure out how Aspect works.

I am struggling to understand how keywords work, I have been trying to add keywords to my photos, and in the end it’s not behaving as expected.

  1. Adding a keyword to an individual photo works as expected.
  2. Selecting multiple photos and attempting to add keywords ONLY adds them to one photo in the group.
  3. I can see existing keywords in the pane, but cannot figure out how to apply them to new photos. Instead I have to retype them manually for every photo.

Is there something I’m missing?

Hi, it seems like there is possibly a bug involved here. I’ve tested it and for me it correctly applied new keywords to all selected photos at once. With such a set of selected photos, where a new keyword is only applied to one of them, are you still able to apply the keyword to all of them one-by-one, or does this maybe fail for some of the photos in general?

There are currently two main ways to apply existing keywords. One is by using the regular + New button and starting to type, but then choosing an entry from the auto-complete popup that appears instead of fully typing it out. The second way works by dragging a selected set of photos onto the keyword tree in the collection pane.

Finally, there is also the possibility to assign a metadata template to regular collection, which can be used, among other things, to define a set of multiple keywords and have them applied automatically to every photo added to that collection. This one is reserved for the “pro” version.
