Hi, I normally shoot RAW+JPEG and Aspect combines both versions nicely. I wish there was an option to select the RAW version for “Export Collections”. That way I could manage my pictures with Aspect, export the RAWs (so basically copy them) to a different folder and use my RAW convertor to process them. (Editing with … does not work for me, but I would love to have a copy of the files in a separate folder anyways.)
A simple way that should kinda work for this would be to have “Copy Original” as an “image format”. The only potential issue there would be that working with this would only work efficiently if the RAW/JPEG preference is set to “prefer RAW”.
Editing with … does not work for me
It would be interesting to know whether we can improve something here, too. Do you stumble over a bug here, or is this more of a workflow issue?
That would definitely be a starting point. But what if I prefer looking at my developed jpgs but want to export RAWs for development? Maybe just additional format options in the export dialogue, e.g. “RAW” and “Original (RAW preferred)”
BTW there is a little bug: Even after typing in a name for the Export Collection it is titled “”:

I had not enough time to play with this. But I think I just failed at providing the correct parameters for the Apps I added (manually), e.g. DXO.
Would the path based sub folder organization proposed in Events folder flattens all photos even with a subfolder pattern possibly be a viable alternative to the export mechanic? So for example, having a rule like «store all files of type “raw” that are in the collection “to edit” in a subfolder named “RAWs to edit”»
In general, the export approach is also be possible a possible option, it just feels a bit more like “bending it” into a use case than for the approach above.
This looks like a bug that has been fixed in 1.0.0-rc.20. In case you are not running an older version, from where have you invoked the export collection dialog when this was happening? I couldn’t find anything suspicious in the source code.

I’ve added DxO PureRAW 5 and FilmPack 7 to the automatically recognized editors for the next release. PhotoLab was already in the list of recognized editors, but wasn’t detected correctly on macOS, which will also be fixed. For some reason, FilmPack just crashed for me but at least the others work correctly now.
Thanks again! I’ll look into the discussion you have linked to. And sorry for the outdated bug report; I did not recognise that I had an old (rc.19) version installed on the Mac I used to look something up for my last reply. It’s indeed working fine with rc.21.
PS: I think my main problem is that I still could not figure out where Aspect exactly fits into my workflow (“starting point” vs “end point”). I’ve tried to triage all pictures from one event and include those I wanted to develop into a collection but could not find a way to easily locate / export the related RAW files to my convertor. I might have just to think about this whole thing a little bit longer …
At least it sounds like the “edit with” functionality would be the preferable way as long as the RAW converter plays nicely. DxO appears to work well in general, they even seem to set the XMP reference to the RAW file correctly when storing the developed image and you can select multiple photos at once and then do “Develop RAW(s)”.
