New features

  • Added groups as a generic means to hierarchically structure the collection pane (#463, #503)

  • The collection bar is now also available inside of collections and search results

    • Metadata that gets stripped by an editor application is now automatically restored
    • Editing relationships are now stored as metadata inside of the edited files
  • Improved the robustness of determining file relationships
    • File relationships, such as sidecar files, RAW/JPEG pairs or edit variants are now determined dynamically instead of being stored in the library
  • New sidecar files now replicate a set of common metadata fields of the source image
    • Allows sidecar files to appear beneath their associated image, regardless of the sorting mode
  • The current library is now reloaded in read-write mode after supplying a license file (#505)
  • Standard header images (for collections, photo stream etc.) are now pre-loaded to avoid flickering (#502)
  • .flv files are now recognized as videos
  • Overlay icons on small thumbnails are now click-through to avoid accidental interactions (#501)
  • Now always uses a modal dialog for setting the initial name of an event
  • The built-in favorite collection is now also listed within the metadata pane
  • The search result header now shows the number of items found (#483)

  • Fixed wrong layout/aspect ratio of thumbnails in the filmstrip (#484)
  • Fixed the scroll position after switching back from details view to thumbnail view (#487)
  • Fixed extraneous images sometimes appearing in the relations bubble
  • Fixed an issue where RAW/JPEG pairs were not determined correctly
  • Drag and drop operations now show a toast message describing the operation (#243)
  • Certain menu entries that require a library are now disabled when none is loaded
  • The “collections”/“metadata” entries in the view menu now actually work
  • Fixed handling of multi-typed node container properties in the add-on API
  • Fixed double-clicking on the image strip of an event header to always work (#470)

Feel free to leave any feedback here or in the bug reports sub forum. Thanks for helping to shape a new way of organizing photos!

Please remember: Even though the software is reasonably stable at this point, always make a backup of your data, or work with a copy of it, when using pre-release software.
